Using Controlled Vocabulary in Music Cataloging eCourse Now Available

For many years, music catalogers depended on Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) for controlled vocabulary terminology, which meant that we couldn’t always tell our patrons what to expect from a resource unless we used a number of creative workarounds. The music cataloging community has worked to develop new vocabularies to be more specific and work better in the online environment. This course will introduce LCGFT, LCMPT, and other important controlled vocabularies for music cataloging. A 4-week eCourse begins Monday, January 6, 2020. Registration is available at the ALA Store at https://bit.ly/2D6xzul
