Strategic Planning Task Force Values Sessions

Dear MLA members:

The Strategic Planning Task Force has been diligently continuing our work to create the 2022–2030 Strategic Plan.

To support our work and bring in an outside perspective, MLA has engaged DeEtta Jones & Associates (DJA), a minority- and woman-owned consulting firm. DJA has deep expertise with academic libraries, strategy & planning, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racist practice. We’re glad to be partnering with them during this phase of looking ahead.

DJA’s first activity with us will be in a series of three workshops in July,  August and early September to surface shared values across our membership. Values, in this context, are the principles or ideas that we hold closely, aspire toward, and use to decide between the many options in front of us. During these sessions, you and your colleagues across the Association will work together to identify values you share and what those mean for our work as MLA. There will be both individual and group work, so come ready to discuss.

You need to attend only one session: all three will be identical. Please register for the one that best fits your schedule.

Following the three sessions, DJA will analyze all of our contributions to develop a clear and concise set of values in collaboration with the Task Force. These will be used to inform the Strategic Plan, and to guide MLA over the coming years.

We look forward to seeing you at these Values Sessions as we envision our future together.

Holling Smith-Borne (on behalf of the MLA Strategic Planning Task Force)
