MLA Emergency Relief Fund

In response to COVID-19, the Music Library Association has established a temporary MLA Emergency Relief Fund. It is designed to provide one-time assistance to current MLA members who are suddenly facing furloughs, unstable housing, or other financial hardship. Recipients will receive up to $1,000.

Applications will be evaluated with particular attention to the statement of need. A task force comprised of Lindsay Hansen Brown and Sara White from the Development Committee, Steve Landstreet from the Music Library Advocacy Committee, and Terry Lewis from the Membership Committee, will review applications weekly and will inform applicants within 10 business days.

All MLA members are eligible to apply and should fill out an application.

If you have the means, please consider donating to directly support your fellow MLA members who have been affected by COVID-19. Any amount will help, and all donations are tax-deductible. The Board has generously seeded the fund with $10,000, with President Susannah Cleveland and Development Officer Lindsay Brown contributing an additional $1,000. You can contribute individually, or through an MLA chapter.

Thanks go to the Development Committee for help with the prospectus for this fund, Susannah and the Board for their review and thoughtful logistical questions, Jim Zychowicz and the Business Office for making this possible through our website, and Web Editors Steve Henry and Katie Buehner for creating the online content. Thanks also to the Society of American Archivists (SAA), whose emergency fund team provided assistance and established a template from which MLA’s fund is modeled.
