The
Position

Utilizing
independent judgment and under supervision of a Library Administrator, this
mid-management classification supervises and manages the operations of the
Brand Library and Art
Center.  

 

The Brand Library and Art Center
is comprised of an art and music library, art galleries and a recital
hall. The Center encompasses El Miradero, an iconic landmark in the City
of Glendale
built in 1904 as the home of Leslie Brand and opened as a library in 1956. A
21,000 square foot addition opened in 1969. Brand
Library & Art Center beckons visitors from all over Southern California to enjoy library resources, concerts,
dance performances, art exhibitions, lectures, community meetings and other
special events. El Miradero is listed in the Glendale Register of Historic Places, and is
eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The Center
expects to reopen in March of 2014 after a major renovation and historic
rehabilitation. 

 

Experience: four years professional work
which includes the following: two years supervisory experience in the same
field and two years of professional experience in art and/or music. 
Experience working in a library and/or art center with an art and music focus
is highly desirable.

Education/Training: a

Master’s Degree in Library and
Information Science from an accredited college or university. College
coursework in art and/or music is highly desirable.

Salary: $5,184 –
$7,541 per month
