Job Description

RIPM (Répertoire international de la presse musicale / Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals) publishes major online research tools for the study of music and musical history. A not-for profit organization based in Baltimore, RIPM works with a network of institutions, libraries, and individuals in Europe , Asia and the Americas and functions under the auspices of two international scholarly societies.  For more about RIPM, see www.ripm.org.

RIPM is seeking a full-time staff member with knowledge of information technology and musical history from Bach to Be-Bop. The successful candidate will oversee the planning, development and production of electronic publications in RIPM’s new Preservation Series. Its first publication will provide access to European and North American music periodicals; and, the second, to Jazz periodicals.
 
Knowledge of musical history, database structure, metadata and digitization with emphasis on project management are required.   A bachelor’s degree (in music, computer science, or a related area); and either graduate-level studies (e.g., musicology, library science), or pertinent work experience are required.  Reading ability in one of more foreign languages, though not required, is desirable.
  
This is a full-time position; salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and skills, and similar to those offered in educational institutions. A one-year contract is required.
