Job Description

Job Purpose:

Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates hourly and work-study staff assigned to the Performing Arts and Media Department. Prepares departmental schedule and ensures adequate coverage for hours of operation. Maintains effective operation of the department with some on-call time. Collects and compiles monthly statistics. Performs limited reference and reader’s advisory services in the areas of music, theater, dance, and film.
 
Performs circulation duties and patron service related to locating materials, using media equipment, and media editing software. Responds to patron requests and correspondence via email and phone. Performs collection maintenance and stacks management duties. Processes campus concert recordings. Maintains and schedules group viewing rooms. Maintains departmental social media networking and Blackboard staff training pages. Reports to the Head of Performing Arts and Media. Serves as backup to the department head in his absence.

Skills:

Excellent communication skills; basic comprehension of music terminology in western European languages; ability to read music; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; ability to solve problems creatively; and aptitude to learn media technology. Ability to lift 20 lbs. Ability to push 50 lbs. on wheels.
 
Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in library sciences or related field; plus two years experience in library services, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
 
Preferred Qualifications:

 
Education or experience in music, film, or other performing arts discipline; experience with library search resources in music, film, or other performing arts disciplines; experience in trouble-shooting audio and video equipment and with standard formatting and authoring tools.

  

Salary/Pay Grade: $29,251; C115
