Reports To: Director of Artistic Operations (DAO)
Normal Hours: Typical hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (37.5 hour work week).Duties will require occasional evening and weekend hours in support of Opera productions, auditions, company events, and other activities. Some overtime hours may be required.
Portland Opera, one of the Northwest’s premiere arts organizations and nation’s leading opera companies, seeks an enthusiastic, positive, experienced individual to join a dynamic artistic operations team as our Music Librarian and Administrative Assistant (MLAA).
The MLAA assists the Director of Artistic Operations in contracting and managing logistical requirements for principal artists, resident artists, chorus, and orchestra members. Key duties include renting or purchasing scores, instruments, and/or musical equipment, and preparing and distributing all orchestra parts and chorus scores. Other essential duties include audition scheduling, coordination, and proctoring.
The ideal candidate is positive, highly organized, detail oriented, outgoing and possesses a strong collaborative, team-oriented approach to work. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential. A solid knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management applications is required to perform the key duties of the position.
Candidates must have 2 to 4 years of experience in applicable work environments, preferably with a performing arts or other nonprofit organization. Familiarity with orchestra music and parts, instrumentation, transpositions, and foreign language terms is essential.
