- Job Description
- Provides basic library reference services including interlibrary loan and document delivery services.
- Is responsible for the maintenance of the library periodical collection; including subscription renewals and acquisition and preservation of back-issues.
- Responsible for the library system serials module, including software upgrades and maintenance of the inventory database.
- Responsible for the training of all Library/Media Center personnel in the processes and procedures of the periodical collection, local indexes and available document delivery services.
- Maintains documentation of available interlibrary loan and online delivery sources.
- Independently oversees up to three student employees in the access and delivery of library and media materials.
- Provides instruction to students, faculty and staff in the effective use of all Library and Media Center resources. These include the on-line catalog, databases and indexes, full-text periodicals, and Internet resources.
- Participates in implementation, review and modification of Learning Resource’s administrative policies and procedures.
- Facilitates communication between users and administration as well as between work-study employees and management.
- Acts as senior departmental representative during designated evening and weekend hours.

- Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in music or related field.
- Basic understanding of academic library standards, policies and procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of basic computer applications including word processing, databases, Internet search techniques, academic information systems, and library software systems.
- Working knowledge of PC platform computers and library system networking issues
Under the general supervision of the Director of Library Services, the Library Assistant – Serials is responsible for the organization and maintenance of the periodical collection; assist with inter-library loan and document delivery of magazines and magazine articles. The Library Assistant – Serials provides basic library services to students, faculty and staff and oversees the operation of the Library/Media Center on designated evenings and weekends.
