Job Description

Serve as Reference and Cataloging Librarian for a research collection in the Center for Popular Music that contains over one million archive items, including over 100,000 pieces of sheet music, 230,000 sound recordings, over 20,000 books, photographs, posters, trade catalogs, and related materials. Provide reference assistance to onsite and remote patrons, particularly in areas related to American traditional and roots music genres. Advise theCPM Director on of the selection and acquisition of books, media, and periodicals for the Center’s Reading Room Collections. Assist the Manager of Recorded Sound Collections with maintenance of sound recordings. Work with projects of the Center’s record label, Spring Fed Records to include preparation of booklet notes, uploading of audio for distribution, etc. Assist with the general operations of the Center and perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.

Required:

  • American Library Association accredited Master’s degree required.
  • One year progressively responsible experience in library or archive work required.

Preferred:

  • Two years progressively responsible work experience in a music library or music archive, preferred.
