Job Description

Interlochen Center for the Arts is looking to hire Ensemble Library Interns for the 2019 camp season. The dates of the contract are 6/13/19-8/6/19 and the stipend for the entire duration of the contract is $1,575. Housing is provided for the dates contracted (early arrival/late stay requests, if space is available, will be paid in full by the employee). All meals are included with your agreement- breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Major Responsibilities

  • The Ensemble Library Intern utilizes skills to serve the music needs of campers, faculty, staff, and alumni participating in large performing ensembles (band, choir, jazz, and orchestra) during Interlochen’s six-week arts camp

  • Preparing and distributing music for assigned large performing groups

  • Marking bowings, numbering measures, inserting cuts, dynamics, etc. as indicated by the conductor and faculty

  • Other duties include photocopying, filing music, and attending all rehearsals/concerts

  • The internship program includes a two-day, intensive learning session covering the basics of performing ensemble librarianship


Qualifications:

  • It is required to have knowledge of classical music and jazz and the ability to read music

  • Candidates working towards or holding a Bachelor in Music are preferred

  • Candidates holding or working towards a MLS degree are encouraged to apply

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are fundamental

  • A moderate level of computer literacy is essential; experience with Mac OS and applications is preferred, and familiarity with Finale and/or Sibelius is a plus

  • Attention to detail and the capacity to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are essential

  • Applicant must be self-motivated
