Announcing the new MLstEP website

Hello from the officers of the Music Library Students and Emerging Professionals group (MLStEP)! Our group, which is part of the Career Development & Services Committee, works to connect students and emerging music library professionals from all over the United States and the world as they build networks of mlstep members out to dinnercolleagues and friends active in the field of music librarianship.

MLStEP is pleased to announce the launch of our brand new Music Library Students and Emerging Professionals website at http://mlstep.wp.musiclibraryassoc.org/. We’re working to develop this site into a useful tool featuring a growing list of professional development and job-related resources, interviews with librarians and archivists active in the field of music and performing arts, and a blog presenting content submitted by our members. We’re excited to announce the publication of a blog post by Celia Gavett about her recent experience at the University of North Texas Music Cataloging Institute; the UNT Cataloging Institute is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in either public or technical music library services to expand their skills, and we’re grateful to Celia for providing us with a first-hand account of her experience.

MLStEP is also on social media, and we love for our members to tag us in the course of their music library-related or MLA conference adventures. Find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MLStudentsandEmergingProfessionals/ or send us a tweet at @MusicLibStEP.

Please visit us at http://mlstep.wp.musiclibraryassoc.org/ or contact the Chair, Jessica Abbazio, at mlstepchair@gmail.com to learn more about the organization. And if you’re a music librarian working with students interested in the field, please send them our way!
