List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  • Identify and vote on ballots of MLA significance, seeking input from appropriate groups.
  • Reviewed, voted, and commented on NSIO ballots and initiatives including:
    • NISO Discovery Initiative Recommended Practice
    • Systematic Review – ISO 10160, Open Systems Interconnection – Interlibrary Loan Application Service Definition
    • Systematic Review – ISO 5963, Methods for examining documents, determining their subjects, and selecting indexing terms
    • Systematic Review – ISO 10957, International standard music number (ISMN)
    • Other ballots with minimal impact on MLA aims.
    • COVID-19 disrupted the representative’s ability to review and vote on all ballots in a timely fashion, but no ballots with significant MLA impact were missed.
  • Facilitate input on NISO Video and Audio Metadata working group.
    • Michelle Urberg and Geoffrey Wood continued to represent music and AV interests, providing periodic reports. The work was disrupted by COVID, but continues.

  • Identify and vote on ballots of MLA significance, seeking input from appropriate groups. Organizational Excellence, Objective 3: Pursue joint ventures with other organizations that offer financial as well as professional opportunities and advantages.
    • Review and vote on NISO ballots
    • Facilitate input on NISO Video and Audio Metadata working group.
    • Review and document processes to make the Alternate Representative role a more active contributor.
