List of Previous Goals and Progress Made
- Our annual meeting was originally planned for May 15-16, 2020 at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. It was later changed to an all-online format and took place on May 14-15, 2020. 90 people registered for our annual meeting.
- Our Best of Chapter winners were Anita Breckbill for “Dvořák and the Birds of Spillville, Iowa” and Jenny Thompson for “Bias in the Canon: An Exploration into Whitewashing in America’s Classical Music and its Forgotten African-American Past.” videorecordings of these presentations may be found at https://sites.google.com/view/mpmla2020/program.
- Operating account (as of 30 June 2020): $8,415. Membership was 59 as of May 15, 2020, increased from 41 at the previous annual meeting.
- Amy Hunsaker (University of Nevada at Reno) was elected and installed as Vice-Chair/Chair Elect, but left the chapter in August when she accepted a position at University of Virginia. As stated in our bylaws, Member-at-Large Avery Boddie took up the duties of the vacant position pending a special election that will be held to fill it at our 2021 annual meeting.
List of Future Goals
- The 2021 annual meeting will take place on May 20 21 at University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, hosted by Matt Stock (pandemic conditions allowing).
