List of Previous Goals and Progress Made

  1. Revive Reference Sources Subcommittee blog, which had not been active recently.
    • Goal Area: Value of the Profession; Objective 2, “Increase the visibility of MLA to media organizations and social media networks.”
    • Completed.
  3. Plan and submit a proposal for a session at the 2019 MLA meeting in St. Louis.
    • Completed (not accepted).
  4. Explore new avenues of outreach and advocacy for reference sources.
    • Goal Area: Advocacy; Objective 5, “Promote and encourage the use of music in all disciplines.”
    • Completed.

List of Future Goals

  1. Continue Reference Sources Subcommittee blog. Pursue plans to reach out to the entire MLA community via MLA-L and invite colleagues outside our committee to provide guest posts.
    • Goal Area: Value of the Profession; Objective 2, “Increase the visibility of MLA to media organizations and social media networks.”
  3. Continue project of examining libguides and other music research guides, evaluating their potential and actual usefulness as reference sources. Pursue plan of requesting input from colleagues via MLA-L, such as conducting a formal or informal survey of their usage by and value to music library patrons.
    • Goal Area: Advocacy; Objective 5, “Promote and encourage the use of music in all disciplines.
